I just got a communal of 6 and would love to create something similar to what you have. Is the enclosure you use a converted 20 gallon? Do you have ventilation in it or is it not needed? Thank you for documenting your journey with these awesome tarantulas!

Hey just wondering I tried a communal and first 2 days I lost 1 of 4 and I can't tell how many are left . At least one . If there are more they are in the ground

My favorite species! Was inspired by you and Grindler and so many other content creators to finally start a Mb commmunal myself. 25 1-1.5 inch slings arrived Wednesday! So far so good. They are all sharing the meals and have burrowed and begun their webbing. It’s so fascinating to watch them. So glad I dove in! Thanks!!

They look like tick when young but men when they become 1-2,inch you would stunned by their color ❤

It happens in the wild a lot hybrids in the wild are cool but not in the hobby but I think it goes on so much in the hobby like when we couldn’t tell difference with stirmi and blondi there was quite a few hybrid of them

How often do these guys molt.. Mine has only molted once since :P I'll be plopping his old enclosure in the tub then retrieving it later. lol. No risk of escape.

Can a female reproduce in a communal setting or you have to separate?

If seen that males normally don’t show as much color as a female does that’s a pretty good indicator to sex

I would love to have an M. Balfouri communal, but alas I only have a singular A.Seemani. I don’t belive I have the experience to do so. Rehousing could be a nightmare for me.

i keep mine in a burrow i made from excavator clay, it takes a long time to go bone dry but when it does you can make telly tubbie domes over balloons making tubes and burrows. I can tell she appreciates it and hasn't changed a thing. nice long dog legged burrow and she comes out at 1AM to about 5AM every night when not just fed, usually just the front end tho. Massively fossorial, it'll hide in it's own web tubes if you don't allow them to dig. had mine from a 3mm spider-ling and she's now about 6 years old, getting huge. ive only ever seen her drink once. check their burrows in Africa, it's like sand and grit, bone dry. Give her a nice rat hole to move into when she's a bit bigger and she'll live a lot longer and have more energy for babies. Their like bulldozers otherwise, constantly pushing everything around to make themselves secure otherwise. You're going to find taking the egg sack from that kind of setup impossible but i could easily set up containers over her entrance in the enclosure. Good luck, popular spider!

This channel, this very Communal was the first time I saw tarantulas capable of living together, and ever since then I have this want to gather the knowledge to eventually maintain an M. balfouri communal myself. This is what I want my enclosure to look like. I'm saddened to see it go, but I'm happy that the videos will be here - and also, I was honestly worried that something terrible had happened to the tarantulas, that they died or something, which was a thought that for a few moments almost dissuaded me from even attempting establishing a communal - thankfully that wasn't the case, and I hope they all live long lives elsewhere!

Despite how much I’ve loved spiders and have been fascinated by their existence for years to the point of researching them constantly.. I’m genuinely amazed that I never learned that sometimes spiders will live in colonies and form a “Social Spider” group. But now that I know this, I’m even more amazed at how intelligent and fascinating these 8 legged creatures can be.

absolutly stunning, i was wondering, did the black stripe that usually crosses the warning coloures on the ventral side of legs 1 and 2 fade with time/age or is this a natural variation that was already present in her youth? Great Setup.

The problem at least with unintentional cross breeding is that so many males look so similar to one another across different species so unless you’re absolutely sure what you have it’s easy to fall into the crossbred territory
